The Marathi Digi-Madhyam App- Summary to Memory!

The Sakal MDM App has been a ray of hope for all the students hailing from the SSC board covered by the dark clouds of the pandemic and geographical restrictions. Recognizing the problems faced by the students of Marathi and Semi-English medium schools, Sakal MDM App came to the rescue with summary videos of every chapter and every subject, recall sections and revisions. To ensure that everyone benefits from the app, the app was built and launched at minimal prices, promoting usability for all.

Creative Splash and Marathi Digi-Madhyam App have been associated with creating content that led to an educational turnaround! While MDM App concentrated on providing the students with quality content, we at Creative Splash diverted our attention to making Promotional and Fundraising Videos.

Let’s take a look at how that went-

The Challenge-

There was a lot of competition in the e-learning sector, and that rose in the light of the pandemic. With the e-learning space being shared with dedicated online education companies, it was a task to make videos that would stand out. Ahead of that, we also had to make the videos blurring the issues of pandemic and focusing on the benefits of tailormade content for students of Marathi medium. 

The Provision-

An amalgam of 2D and Motion Graphics that walked the audience through the statistics and obstacles faced by the students of Maharashtra, and then, the smooth pathway to success using the Sakal MDM App! We highlighted the features of the application while having a CTA of ‘gifting the gift of education’ to the pupils. Well, this is just a brief summary of what we did. Let’s have an eagle’s eye view over our project timeline and see what went in to get such an outcome! 

Our first brainstorming session for this project started with the word, verb- ‘Imagine’. Literally, our script and the process started with imagination and that was placed beside reality to highlight the differences. We started off by getting our antennas active and finding the statistics. After having the data, we introduced a student, and the number kept on multiplying as we zoomed out from an individual to the entire state of Maharashtra. Our plan was to show the unavoidable setbacks faced by the students. The arrows of snags hit the students as they walked their path to quality education, and with each arrow (which were a representation of obstacles), students were obstructed from getting satisfactory teaching. To indicate the increase in the void between these students and easy learning, we placed the students and doorway to education on the same plane. The ultimate destination of the students drifted apart as the hurdles increased. 

To exaggerate the frame, we built the set on a dull and gloomy brownish background. All of our characters in this film were animated by our talented team, and the sequence was made without disturbing the minimalism and simplicity of the video. As the details of the face were comprised of line elements, we put extra attention to altering them as the scenarios demanded. Actually, the minimal line expressions also gave the animation team a reason to express more using the body language. For example, to show the helplessness of students, we altered the body structure of the students, and made them bend from the back. They walked looking down, tired and sad. On the contrary, as Sakal MDM App came in, the backs got straight, the heads got high and confidence walked down the aisle. 

By doing this, we got the users acquainted with the perplexities faced by these students. To overcome these obstacles, it was time to welcome our protagonist- the Marathi Digi-Madhyam App. As we entered the sphere of e-learning, the first thing that came to our mind was the internet. The internet has the capacity to overcome barriers and deliver educational needs to students. The same thread of the internet got the students closer to academics as the students could rejoice with the educational material provided by the MDM App!

By doing this, we got the users acquainted with the perplexities faced by these students. To overcome these obstacles, it was time to welcome our protagonist- the Marathi Digi-Madhyam App. As we entered the sphere of e-learning, the first thing that came to our mind was the internet. The internet has the capacity to overcome barriers and deliver educational needs to students. The same thread of the internet got the students closer to academics as the students could rejoice with the educational material provided by the MDM App!

In the end, we had to add a call to action, requesting the viewers to gift the app to a student in need. We didn’t want to maintain the fine line between a request and an order, so we gently packed a 500 rupee note in an envelope, and that envelope landed on the phone of the student, yielding his happiness!

The Outcome-

The moment we got the MDM App in the scenario, we looked after the fact that the dark setting that was seen in the first part of the video flipped into a bright and optimistic blue colour, and a positive aura was automatically established! We selected a colourful palette for the video, so as to maintain the jolly feel of schooling. We didn’t want the audience to relate education with lousy and sloppy colours and therefore, we decided on filling bright playful colours! Now, rather than making a collage of features of the app, we fit all of them in a tab that promoted the concept of learning online. Remarkable education was available at the disposal of the students at their fingertips! PDFs, audio lessons, holistic development tutorials, revisions and whatnot was packed in the MDM App, and the ease of access was elaborated by packing the plan in a tab.
The MDM App was loaded with facilities that would promote fun learning and express that, we had a group of students coming on to the screen in different windows, but sharing the same smile and joy as they had education delivered to them, along with happiness!

The brand has been in the sofa manufacturing business since 2002 and has undoubtedly made a strong position while setting a benchmark. The quality of products used, the customizations, the fabrics, the tailor-made sofas, and meticulous work put in the intricate details make the sofas by SPNS a perfect fit for residential and commercial spaces.

Creative Splash has been delighted to curate content for such a brand. SPNS had a catalogue full of beautiful sofas. We assured them that we will animate the inanimate, and bring alive their ideas for the sofas that fill lives! All that was needed was a great storyline, without too much chaos.

Let’s take a look at how that went-

The Challenge-

SPNS is an ‘only sofas’ manufacturing house. Unlike other furniture stores that produce the entire decor set, SPNS has kept its hands and mottos glued to making the finest sofas, without any compromise. How to create content that doesn’t make ‘only sofas’ look like a limit or a barrier? How to make videos that would stand out from the rest of the industry?

The Provision-

Storytelling! Could there be a better way to connect with the audience than telling a story? That’s what most of them already do. We added some zest to the daily dish and guess what? We got the Sofa narrating the story of its life! 

The scripting began and we started to weave the words in the same way SPNS weaved their fabrics- with elegance! A heartfelt script was penned and we introduced ‘A Day in Life of a Sofa’. In this script, the sofa was the hero and the rest of the elements (that also represented us, the humans) revolved around it. The sofa decorated the scenario, just like it decorates life. It witnessed us waking up, going off to work, and it comforted us after a long day. From dusk to dawn, it watched us grow, live and celebrate life and unknowingly became a part of the family.

For all this to happen, an elaborative storyboard was constructed beforehand. As we said, the sofa stayed constant and rest, they were variables. Colours were yet to be filled in our lines and we got to a conclusion. SPNS placed orange eminently in their brand colours. And hence, we decided to find its contrasting friend and obviously, we met a fresh colour near green! Split Complementary colours were the way to go! The aesthetic colours also adjusted well to different shades of light as the day progressed and managed to live up to the richness of SPNS sofas.

While writing the script, we visualised a beautiful 3D scene and got the client on board with this idea. After deciding on a 3D style of animation, a very detailed and well-worked project had to be created in order to deliver photo-realistic renders. We started off with an empty room and placed a sofa in it. The window, shutter, and sofa colour were finalized. Now, we studied the room and placed a lamp, table, some frames, and other elements to enhance the room. Extra attention was diverted to the fact that everything should complement the sofa and not look disconnected.

After setting the room, the magic of 3D was plotted. Simulation walked in the scene and added the ‘wooow’ element to the frames. For example- at the start itself, the cloth familiarized itself with the shape of the sofa and then, fell smoothly on it. Following the rules of simulation, the cloth and many other elements were filling the frame. 

Next up for the runway was lighting. Lighting played a major role in this video. It helped fill the void of human presence by giving elements the power to shine (quite literally). The tones of light changed in coordination with the day. The morning saw a warm light with VFX adding particles and a misty look to it, while the noon napped with shutters closed, throwing a white yet dark light. The evening dimmed the room while the lamp made happiness visible again. The lighting did justice to the script and emotions of the day- from sofas’ POV. The highlights and shadows changed their direction with the lights and made it a pleasant experience for the viewers.

The Outcome-

A beautiful heart-touching video! SPNS used ‘A Day in Life of a Sofa’ for various social media campaigns that made the crowd indulge in the emotions that they went through every day. This acted as a catalyst in increasing the brand value, ultimately increasing sales. It was a unique idea that wouldn’t cross the minds on a regular day but it was bought in reality by Creative Splash. The storytelling done by the sofa expressed joy, enthusiasm, and all things that happen within the humble homes. 

To sum it up, ‘A Day in Life of a Sofa’ turned out to be a great way to reach the audiences, tapping the potential customers and generating interest and curiosity!

Powada: A trip to the rich culture and history of Maharashtra

This project of Creative Splash has an intriguing backstory. Back in the lockdown two years ago, we made a short film called “Yanda Hich Vaari”. This short film was an experience of Vaari as a whole. The short film was created by and for us. We poured our efforts into making the short film. After two years, a request for an animated film depicting Maharashtra’s history and culture was made by Ogilvy Agency. We presented the already-produced short film, and guess what? They cherished it. “Our work speaks for itself,” as we always say.

We were so happy that we got the project which we liked so much. Our client was Bahawa Entertainment. They shooted live-action footage. We decided to showcase the history of Maharashtra by using illustrations and animation.

Challenge:
The style that we were going to approach looked very minimal. To convince the client that we can achieve the visuals that they were expecting with this style was a task. The main challenge that we had was the transition from live-action to animated sketches. It needed to be handled smoothly without disturbing the visual flow.

Provision:
The ideas which were floating in our minds were put on a simple white paper with all the details one can ask for. The Storyboarding was made with details not only in the sketches but also with the camera movement. We provided them with a precise view of the video. And the client loved it! We knew we were heading in the right direction. After looking at the storyboard one could imagine what the final result would look like.

After the storyboard was well received by the client we started doing sketches. With 10000 lines and 50000 circles, the Illustrations took a shape. But before moving forward, we had to fill these sketches with colours to bring the soul into the picture. We purposely decided to keep the human figures in black and white and filled the colours only into the background. We chose warm colours such as orange, red and yellow to showcase the warmth of our culture and the rigidness of our history. These warm elements did the magic and brought life to the sketches.

Then we moved to our favourite part. Yes! You guessed it right. Animation! As you all know we love bringing life to static frames. To make this happen, we used Parallax Motion Graphics. It’s a bit difficult to understand but it takes your visuals to the next level. Parallax is not any kind of magic stick which will do its work with a single stroke. It took a lot of detail, hard work and knowledge to give realistic movement in the video. The compilation of the entire video was done using 3D Compositing. The animations and SFX (Sound Effects) enhanced the video and added beauty to the visuals.

The next thing was lighting. Lighting always plays an important part in any visual. Adding the right amount of light is a major task. The tones and the angles of the light change according to each and every situation. We achieved this by using VFX. By adding elements like musical notes and light particles we enhanced the visuals. It added a golden touch to the entire environment of the video. The transitions from one scene to the other managed to happen smoothly without disturbing the visual flow. At the end of the video, the transition from illustrations to live-action footage was creatively done using the camera-matching technique.

The Outcome

The client was mesmerized after watching the video. We achieved more than what they expected. The video got a positive response from the audience. The rich culture and history of Maharashtra were reflected in each frame. This video added brand value to the company. To conclude, we loved doing the sketches and animations with our unique ideas and creativity. We stretched our abilities to achieve what we had imagined. The video was a great success. The video simply reminds everyone about their history textbook.

Suhana- The Tastemakers By Creative Splash

The perfect blend of spices, a dash of delightful flavour, and loads of goodness- all packed in one box- only at Suhana! Suhana has the title of being one of the most loved brands in India as they supply foodies with irresistible spices that add flavour to food and life! 

Creative Splash agreed to make the recipe for generating eye-catching content for Suhana. We spilt the beans and came up with fun and catchy ideas. Suhana filled our basket with their new range of ‘Cuppa’ instant food mixes. We had many products on the table and that also gave us a spacious cooktop to make yummy videos!

What happened ahead of that? Let’s see-

The Challenge-

Suhana is a big name in the food industry. The Cuppa range was making its grand entrance in the ready-to-eat food industry and we had to make sure that all the eyes were glued to it. In minimal time, we had to take maximum efforts. The main challenge was to introduce the products in less than 10 seconds for the Cuppa range and make the videos in a crisp timeline, so as to cater for the target audience. Suhana introduced the line with a colourful scheme. Right from finding colours that would complement each other, the queue was quite long.

The Provision-

Fun and colourful power-packed videos!

Okay, that was just a compressed version of what we meant but to extract our ideas from the file, we mixed and played with 3D and lots of motion graphics. The line of products had a range that included instant Poha, Jeera rice, Dal Tadka, Dal Khichadi, a great Veg Kadai Mix, and much more. We built some scenarios, gave it a mini storyline, made 3D models of Suhana’s star cast, and got the show running.

Innovative, catchy, fun? What could it be? A medley of stop-motion video and little motion graphics adorning it! Yes! A playful theme was already set by the ingredients that danced their way onto the kitchen top. We made them appear one by one using stop motion and we also added some VFX- especially minimal motion graphics to make it even more joyful. For eg- To exaggerate the process of mixing, we added circular hand-drawn elements that orbited along with the ladle. The ingredients were already colourful and we pepped them up even more by dressing them in lens and light flares. The Suhana Veg Kadhai Mix video played through a splash of visual treatments, fun elements and ultimately, lovely taste!

The Cuppa range was fit in short promotional videos, and we decided to use 2D, 3D and motion graphics to make the most out of it. These videos ran for 10-20 seconds while sticking to the motive- maximum outcome in minimum time. The Cuppa range and the videos had one common point- they were made for people having less time on sleeves. A quick recipe and a quicker video struck the chords of the audiences’ hearts!

For every product, we had a direction: for example-

For this film, we made a series of perfect pairings of friends and gossiping, movies and popcorn, and so on. The final slide revealed the match of Jeera Rice and Dal Tadka. What we did here was the usage of motion graphics and 2D animation to bind the script together. In 18 seconds, we wanted to demonstrate the connection between each of the elements in correspondence with the other and then, in the end, we presented an amazing mix of Dal Tadka and Jeera rice in the form of Suhana’s Cuppa range. The colour palette for this video was bright and lively so as to keep up with the tone of the video. The yellow colour indicates creativity and optimism while the purple one drives enthusiasm.

With a run-time of 9 seconds, we made a cool 3D video for Suhana’s Jeera Rice! Keeping the timeline to a single-digit number, we showed how the process is as simple as it looks and it actually takes the least amount of time! The scene opened with the 3D model of the product popping in and as the lid opened, the tastemaker paved its way out. We wanted to get the perfect blend of 2D and 3D for making the water flow smoothly. And thus, to make it realistic, we rooted for water simulation. We extensively used 2D particular as well. The lid then sat back on the bowl and the dish was ready. Using such apt graphics, we proved that the process of making Cuppa was very easy and a great choice.

Here, we created a scene that would be extremely relatable- thereby increasing connection with the frame. The happy trip turned not-so-happy when the car crashed and indeed, that stole a lot of time and energy. Starting with that note, we established the need of having something instant and easy. We put in the limelight Suhana’s products like Dal Khichadi and Masala Dal Khichadi. 3D models of the Cuppa bowls were designed and colour schemes of the background and elements were set in contrasting yet attractive tones.

The Outcome-

Suhana ran their campaign using these videos. The Cuppa range was new in the market and we gave Suhana what they wanted- excitement! The videos ran for a short span of time but communicated the purpose, and attracted the crowd. Suhana could reach its target audience with our videos. They used the videos on their website and social media and that helped them gain more engagement and promising sales!

Case Study – Chitale Dairy- Life begins with milk!

Chitale Dairy! Need we say more? The brand needs no introduction. And yet, here we are, talking all pride in speaking more of it! Chitale Dairy has been a champion in the dairy industry by supplying the consumers with only the purest and best of products. With all the goodness packed in the products, Chitale Dairy has become a household name. The motto of empowering the local farmers and starting an enterprise movement was set by Late Babasaheb Chitale, and today, Chitale Dairy stands proud and dispenses around 3 lakh litres of milk daily.

Creative Splash had the pleasure of working for such a brand that has built its image on the base of impeccable quality and trust. Chitale Dairy revamped their packaging for milk recently, and they wanted their products to walk down the aisle with the grandest entry. Splashing fresh new colours in their traditional packaging, Chitale Dairy launched the milk packaging with trendy and cool videos. With FullHouse Entertainment and Media Solutions as our client and Chitale as the brand, we were set to rock the floor! They wanted distinctive videos with different themes and we knew the way to make them in the best possible way!

The Challenge-

We wished to show off the new packaging too much, but we had too little time. These were product videos- meaning, we had no more than 30 seconds on our timelines. To be precise, we had the liberty of using half a minute only for one video. Rest had to be till ten seconds, at par. Chitale is a brand that stands with consistent perfection, and so should their videos. Right from scripting and designing to selecting music and animation styles, we took all the liberty! We wanted to give them the best of all, and therefore, we promised ourselves that all the videos would run with their very own signature characteristics and even though the products would be the same, each video would feel beautifully different.

The Provision-

Different themes; different animation methods! We bought the best of traditional and spark of modernity in our frames by using various techniques like Stop-motion, Papercut Animation, Parallax, Typography and definitely a lot of 3D! We had splashes of colours, smokey VFX, funky typography, and most of all, imagination and creativity everywhere. Let’s sequentially skim through the series of the videos we made!

The Stop-motion Gallery

Our first video showed off an aesthetic and eye-pleasing animation style. Stop-motion animation has been one of the oldest forms of animation. Manual animation of every element is the highlight of this one. We achieved the traditional classic using our everyday animation software. Without using any third-party application, we presented a stop-motion story that called for frame-by-frame treatment. To add to this, we wanted to give the entire video a paper-cut treatment to enhance the final output. For this, we dragged the paper effect out of our scribble books and dropped it directly into our animation. We recreated types of shadows, made out solids uneven and added texture to make it more realistic and proceeded with different other methods too.

The video heroes all 3 packaging types. We hooked a season to every colour. The orange colour went close to the warmth, and hence, fall. While the packaging had waves of shades of orange, our paper-cut animation picked lighter shades and fit in the composition. To add more drama to it, we animated some leaves and dropped them over the composition. Next up was the packaging starring blue and green. For the background, a pale shade of blue was chosen to elaborate on the rainy season. The green indicated the freshness that the rains bought. With the VFX techniques that we absolutely love, we got some rain. The same pale cloud helped us make a great transition and landed us at another scene that was decorated with snow. Yes, snowy winter’s time! This time, we chose to contrast the packaging and pick a different background. Worked wonders! Even though the background was contrasting, we ensured that we stuck by the brand colours in some way or the other.

The last scene got us a line-up of all three seasons, all the packaging styles and put in the limelight the new launches! Rather than making a collage, we bound all the styles together by making the products fit on the mountain line- giving us continuity.

The Typographic Blend

When we thought of this style, we asked ourselves, “Why do we choose Chitale Milk?” We got the answers without having to think much and that’s how we decided on the establishing compose of the video. Using the USPs of Chitale Milk, we made a trendy wordy start. This video was set to be on a funky and attractive tone. The visuals shifted quickly to the beats of the music, and this video turned out to be a ramp walk for the milk bags! In this video, we literally got our office’s name in work and had colourful Creative Splash(s)! Adhering to the theme of the packaging, we put our 3D knowledge to use and bought a classy effect to the video. Later, the camera travelled through the gaps and got us a view of different packaging styles. Keeping up with the splashy trend, we also used 2D transitions to shift between frames. Towards the end, we wrapped up our video and went to fetch a glass of Chitale Milk, because it’s ‘Not just today, every day!’

The Camera Animatics

How to define ‘beauty’ in 10 seconds? Many people think it isn’t possible. Well, they haven’t seen our creations! Chitale Milk was getting revamped. How could it be simple? Chitale group introduced 3 new packaging styles and in this video, we picked each one individually, analyzed the colour schemes, found the elements that would match their styles and finally, fit it on a beautiful piece of music. For every package, we found elements that matched the style. Be it majestic designs, a couplet of flowers or assets that beautified the background, our composition embraced it all. The colours complemented each other so well! The minimalistic background animation enhanced the scene too. In the background, a soothing piece of music ran, nestling all the compositions above. The highlight of the video was the camera movement. The shifts and turns and aperture play added the wow factor to the video! Using fine camera animation techniques, we decided on foreground, midground and background and filled the frame accordingly. The additive elements were placed in the foreground and they had their way of animation, just not in focus. This gave depth to the midground and background. Now one may ask, why such a classy look especially for this video, while other videos were very exciting, fast-paced and cool? We all heard and loved the music in this video, and this video was to be presented at one of the most prestigious music fests- The Bhimsen Joshi Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav! Chitale Dairy stood as the sponsor of the event and they aired this video at his event. Had to be classy and super-elegant, no?

The Trendy Show

Another 10-second favourite with bright colours and quick graphics. The milk bags seemed to have a lot of fun in this very video. They twirled, made their special appearance, and grooved with the beats of the music. And while they were enjoying the attention, the backgrounds had to keep up with their styles too. So, the background animations had their starry moments and enjoyed the limelight! With colourful and splashy transitions, our video quickly progressed with different packaging styles, some close-up shots and the milk bags were embracing the details like swirly moments and droplets of water. This video set a playful tone for the brand and emphasized the modernistic approach that the brand has adapted while keeping its roots hooked to the original essence and values!

The Old-school Classic

Chitale Milk is a brand that has been associated with trust, purity and honesty. This 10-second video got us closer to all the emotions that emerge from the ultimate creator. With a lot of VFX and a bit of drama, we rendered a video that held the aspects of our Indian culture. The video timeline had multiple layers, even more cameras and beautiful elements that walked the path we gave them. We bought in the frame the smoke emitted by incense stick and to build a stronger context, idols of our gods were made to appear. Between all this, the milk bags that offer the customers purity and quality were placed. In 10 seconds, we got the elements that represent our culture and the product together, making it a super hit!

The Outcome-

A series of fun-packed promotional videos! Yes, Chitale Dairy got what they wanted, while we had all the fun we wanted to while making the videos. Chitale’s uploaded the videos on their social media handles and the videos reached a large audience, collecting all the love! The motto of highlighting the new packaging styles was, therefore, successful, and the public sure did welcome the grand, new look of this most loved brand!

Grinding Everything We Find- Khalbatta

On March 21, 2021, we at Creative Splash started a new page- Khalbatta. What ran for months before launching was a sequence of thoughts which revolved around what will go live on it. After 101 brainstorming sessions, making mistakes, mending mistakes, having the best moments and out-of-the-box ideas on the table, we finally decided to let the Khalbatta grind whatever it found. Khalbatta is a stage, a page where the Maharashtrian culture, the traditions are preserved and the love for the same is broadcasted.

We told you, the Khalbatta grinds everything it finds. The names of Gods like Khunya Murlidhar, Upashi Vithoba, Bhikardas Maruti were heard by all of us but Khalbatta fed the curiosity when the questions like ‘Why such names?’ arose. Typically, Khalbatta is an instrument that has been a member of the kitchen of our ancestors. We decided to break the barriers and experiment with it. Dev-Biv was a product that came out of it! But does that mean that we forgot the initial use? NO!

As we saw various spices stacked on the shelves, we were curious to know how much could be done with them. This curiosity made us call our Aajis and we dug deep to get their secret recipes. The Cook-It-In-A-Minute by Khalbatta is a heartfelt attempt to match the dots of the kitchen with us, with the string that holds us close- Maharashtrian traditions. This Cookbook has its pages filled with the recipes jotted down by Aajis, which were previously kept in their treasure boxes. Khalbatta has been a joyride for us. We did it for bringing traditions closer to us but somehow, through endless conversations and discussions, we got closer to each other. We talked about the Fav-Devs, some yummy recipes which were aligned with Maharashtrian culture. And what do the legends say? ‘The best things come to you when you expect them the least.’ We believe it!

Keeping this thought in our mind, we decided to shatter the belief which stated that Grammar Nazis are only limited to the English language. We had 2 of them roaming in our office, who could smell, trace and mend the mistakes! In them, we saw a sparkling love for the language. There started our very own journey to preserve and protect our Marathi.

Love for the language is unconditional but we decided to schedule it so it could reach you subtly!
